10-fold Muqarnas Dome
Tenfold Symmetry Dome
This dome is expanded from the basic dome in an arbitrary, but pleasing manner. It is made of four of the five tile types of tenfold symmetry. From the plan view the upper vertices of 4 mogharnas tile types have 36°, 72°, 108° and 144° angles.
The vertical 180° tile is not used, but could have been. This important tile is represented by the green lines on the outside of the image at the left.
Other uses of 10-fold symmetry include the Girih tiles used in Iran since the year 1200.
