8-fold AB-A5 Dome
Plan View Explanation
8-fold AB-A5 Dome: The Ammann-Beenker A5 Tiling is an aperiodic (nonperiodic) tiling of the 2D plane which can be created from two tiles: the square (90° X 4) and the (45°/135° X 2) quadrilateral. I interpreted it as a plan view of a muqarnas dome with the dome peak in the image center. To do this required three of the four muqarnas tiles of eight-fold symmetry. In the plan view the top vertices have: 45°, 90° & 135°.The unused tile is vertical in orientation. It could have been used it where two of the diagrams edges are parallel through a point (coincident). However this would have changed and complicated the construction of the resulting muqarnas dome. I chose not to use the vertical (180°) tile.
