1976 Sculpture – Embrace
This abstract piece of sculpture in wood represents the passionate embrace of a couple. I created it with chisels from my blacksmithing. The sculpture is wood, in fact it is made from a part of an old railroad trestle bridge. The original material was a 14″ X 14″ X 9′. I cut it in half and laminated the pieces together prior to sculpting. I think it is Douglas Fir, but am not certain.
The piece is in the permanent collection of Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. It is on display in the Student Union.
