'Keel' motif of muqarnas expansion

Unlike the 'ray' and 'crescent' motifs the 'keel' motif uses the 'seed' approach.

The 'seed' approach designs a top/center from a small number of muqarnas tiles that all share the top/center point. Then the consequences of this initial choice are explored by building the muqarnas form out and down from the top/center.

This form and its possible regular expansion came as very much of a surprise to me. Most muqarnas structures display a distinctly complex rotational symmetry, which is notably absent from the 'keel'. The 'keel' displays the familiar mirror symmetry of something like a coffee table
